I enjoy the process of designing, planning, and building dental offices for dentists. It’s a diverse job that has a lot of different aspects and facets. It keeps things interesting for me and my team.
One element of all of this is the interior design of the office. I have a bit less to do with this than with other parts of the process, but I do want to share some important things to consider when it comes to design and color specifically.
I always suggest to my clients that they use neutral colors for all of the bigger and more permanent features of their office. The carpet, paint, flooring, ceramic tile, vinyl, planks, and floor coverings are best in neutral tones.
However, that’s not to say that I don’t think color is important. I think that my clients should design their office to reflect their style and personality.
Smart Use of Color
Color communicates different things to people. The way the color is used must be considered as much as which color is used.
For example, bright red walls would be jarring and uncomfortable. White walls are more neutral but adding a large red painting will still give the impression of strength and power, but less painfully.
With this in mind, I feel the best place and use of color is in smaller amounts in ways that can be changed easily. Artwork, furniture, decor, and at most an accent wall is where you should bring in your color.
Your Style, Your Choice
When we design for our clients, we like to let the accent design features do the talking as far as color is concerned, instead of the main elements of the office. However, it always comes down to what you want. If you want to make a strong, bold statement, then make it! We’ll always work with you to get you the office you want.
